These beautiful words by the great William Ernest Henley, narrated once more by Shane Morris are illustrated on the front cover. Scarves and wounds are just a reminder of the struggle and battle, but the head remains upright and defiant.
I made first mix in the Beneath the Surface series 16 years ago, as a rebellious response to the state of music production at the time. First four in the series (2009-2012) were dark seminal progressive house, the music that is no longer being made in that form.
After reincarnation of the series in 2021, the mixes became "techier". What once was very dark, now is more energetic, with heavy bass lines and driving melodies. However, the main premise remained the same: don't just look at what's on the surface, scratch and dig deeper!
